Award Description

The School of Computer Science is happy to be able to recognise and reward our incoming International undergraduate students, to celebrate your excellent academic achievements before arriving as a student at the University of Birmingham. 

Value of Award

The Undergraduate International Scholarship in Computer Science consists of two elements.

The Computer Science International Achievement Scholarship consists of a tuition fee discount of £1500 during semester 1 of the first year of study for all students who meet the criteria listed. This award is renewable in subsequent academic years subject to the conditions outlined below. 

The Computer Science International Excellence Scholarship consists of a tuition fee discount of £3000 during semester 1 of the first year of study for all students who meet the criteria listed.  

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Achievement Scholarship on entry to the university you must:

To renew this award in a subsequent year of study you must:

  • Hold this award in the previous academic year
  • Achieve full credits and 70% year average at the first attempt in your previous year of study at Birmingham
  • Renewal will pause for year in industry or international study and will restart during your return to study at Birmingham based on the performance from the year before your year out
  • The award will be automatically allocated to you by our team, no further application is required

This Computer Science Excellence award (£3000) is not renewable and cannot be held in conjunction with the Computer Science International Achievement Scholarship in first year.

Students may be eligible however to obtain the Computer Science International Achievement Scholarship (£1500) for subsequent years of study after completion of year 1, if they meet the following criteria. Students must:

  • Hold the Computer Science International Excellence Scholarship in the first academic year
  • Achieve 70% year average at the first attempt in your previous year of study
  • Renewal will pause for year abroad, industrial year or international study and will restart during your return to study in the School of Computer Science at University of Birmingham based on the performance from the year before your year out
  • The award will be automatically allocated to you by our team, no further application is required
